As the virus spreads across the globe, sports bodies are cancelling or postponing events. Major sporting events have been cancelled or postponed. The most significant one that was due to take place in Japan this summer was the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The event is postponed to July 23 to August 8, 2021.
